KUALA LUMPUR, NOVEMBER 14th - Cindy Sui, a 22years old Sarawakian that is passionate and dedicated enough in various kinds of sports.

“I travelled all the way to Peninsula Malaysia to pursue my studies and learned to be independent without any companion. Participating in fitness and sports have been the most weekly routine for me to get discipline,” Cindy said.

Cindy started her swimming career at the age of 16, sprint swimming is one of her best events which involves short and intense training which is typically 50 meters and 100 meters.

She managed to join Sukan Malaysia (Sukma) three times in the swimming events when she was just 16 years old. Cindy can be considered as a young athlete that represents the state of Selangor.

“When the Sukma Game is near, I had to return to Sarawak to undergo three months intense training for preparation. I always get cramps on my leg and back which tells me that my body has been over trained,” she said.

“Everyone should expose themselves more in participating sports, especially for Generation Z. This is a training ground for them to go above and beyond their limits,” Cindy said.

Apart from swimming, Cindy is also enthusiastic in cheerleading sports. Cindy and her team represented Sunway University in Korea, Seoul for the International Cheerleading Sports Championship.

“We need nine months duration of training in order to prepare ourselves for competition and to build a good relationship with our teammates. No man should be left behind, every teammate plays an important position in that competition,” she said.

After going through tough training for nine months, finally they made Malaysia proud and brought back gold medals that became a significant sport in Malaysia.

She said that she is lucky to travel to Korea with her teammates and exposed herself with different kinds of culture. Cindy is able to meet different nationalities of cheerleader athletes and exchange ideas about their country lifestyle and also cheerleading routines.

She emphasized that the most important thing is to learn from mistakes and failures, put in more effort, at the end you shall see the results.
“ I have already given my all-out during training and I focus on my goal, it is pointless if I train without a specific goal. My teammates trained as hard as me, but they cannot get through at the end of training and slacked off easily,” she said.
Cindy did not manage to win any medals during her first Sukma Game, however she perceived that as her personal experience. “Although I lost, I knew one day I will defeat my opponent soon,” she said.
The second Sukma can be considered as a peak for Cindy, she won one gold, one silver and one bronze in the year 2018 in swimming events. “I literally burst into tears when I won three medals, I did not expect this to happen,” Cindy said.
